A load board for truck dispatchers

Truck dispatchers use GigFreight to find loads for the owner-operators and fleet trucks they book: search the US board by state, equipment and pickup date, save loads and express interest, and contact the broker directly with a paid plan. GigFreight is a load board, not a dispatch service — you keep your own carriers and agreements.

What a load dispatcher does

A truck dispatcher finds and books loads for carriers — usually owner-operators or small fleets — plans the next load before the truck is empty, and handles the paperwork and broker contact in between. Some dispatchers work in-house for a fleet; independent dispatchers work for several carriers.

Finding loads for the trucks you dispatch

  1. Register with the “Dispatcher” account type.
  2. Search the US board by origin, destination, pickup date and equipment — “Dry Van”, “Reefer”, “Flatbed / Platform”, “Box Truck”, “Hotshot” and others.
  3. Save loads to come back to them, and use “Express interest” on the ones that fit a truck.
  4. With a fully paid plan, see the broker’s contact details and agree the load directly.
  5. Once a broker accepts you for a load, mark it delivered when the truck has unloaded.

Planning several trucks

US dispatcher and broker accounts whose company has trucks on GigFreight can use the Smart Route tool in fleet mode: it suggests open US loads for the available trucks, using estimated deadhead, fuel cost and profit. It is a planning aid; check every suggestion and every load before you book it.

Before you book a load for a carrier

  • Have a written dispatch agreement with each carrier you book for.
  • Confirm the carrier’s equipment, availability and insurance before you commit.
  • Check the broker’s company name and contact details independently, and confirm the rate confirmation details.
  • Plan the reload from the delivery area before the truck unloads.
