How to find a return load
- Before you leave, note where and when you will be empty.
- Search the UK board by pickup near that drop-off and the date you are free.
- Filter by your vehicle — artic, rigid or van — and sort by rate or rate per kilometre.
- Contact the poster with your vehicle and availability; agree the rate in writing.
Common UK backload patterns
- Scotland and the North East back to the Midlands distribution parks.
- South West and Wales back towards the M4/M5 corridor.
- Ports (Felixstowe, Southampton, Dover) inland and back.
- Mainland Europe back to the UK — UK accounts also see European freight.
Return loads for vans
Van drivers filter by the “Van / Sprinter” vehicle type to see loads that fit a van; see also van loads UK.

Frequently asked questions

None in practice: both mean a load that fills the return leg after a delivery.
Can I find return loads from Europe to the UK?
Yes. UK accounts see both UK and European freight on GigFreight.
Do I need an account to see return loads?
Load boards can be browsed without an account. Visitors see the route, dates, equipment and price of each load, but not the poster’s contact details.
