LTL and partial loads

LTL (less-than-truckload) and partial loads fill only part of a trailer or truck, so one truck can carry several shipments on a run. On GigFreight's US board, the “Load type” filter separates full truckload (FTL), LTL and partial loads, and you can combine it with the equipment filter — box truck, cargo van, hotshot, dry van and more. Load boards can be browsed without an account. Visitors see the route, dates, equipment and price of each load, but not the poster’s contact details.

How to find LTL loads

  1. Open the US load board and set “Load type” to LTL or Partial.
  2. Pick your equipment — box truck, cargo van, Sprinter or hotshot for smaller freight.
  3. Search from where your truck empties out and in the direction you are heading, so loads can be combined.
  4. Sort by rate or rate per mile and open the load to check weight, pallets and appointment times.

Before you combine loads

  • Load in reverse delivery order, so the first drop is at the doors.
  • Secure partial freight — empty space lets pallets shift.
  • Check each shipper’s and receiver’s appointment window; one missed appointment can push every later stop.
  • Interstate for-hire work needs a USDOT number, and MC operating authority where it applies.
  • Plan the run within hours of service. Under FMCSA hours-of-service rules a property-carrying driver may drive 11 hours within a 14-hour window and must take a 30-minute break after 8 hours of driving, so one driver covers roughly 500–600 miles a day.

Posting LTL freight

Posting loads is restricted to active paid subscribers and valid trials: the load is posted from a broker account — shippers and forwarders use the same account type — of a verified company, and is published in that account’s own markets.

What it costs

The Standard monthly plan starts with 3 days for $1, then $29.99 a month. Broker and shipper contact details on a load are shown only to members with a fully paid, active subscription. A trial gives access to the platform but not to load contact details.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between truckload and LTL?

A full truckload uses the whole trailer for one shipment; LTL shares the trailer between several smaller shipments.

Can I filter the load board to LTL loads only?

Yes. The “Load type” filter shows FTL, LTL and partial loads separately, and works together with the equipment filter.

Are there LTL loads for box trucks and cargo vans?

Yes. Combine the LTL or Partial load type with the box truck, cargo van or Sprinter equipment filter.

Can I see LTL loads without an account?

Load boards can be browsed without an account. Visitors see the route, dates, equipment and price of each load, but not the poster’s contact details.
