Tipper work for owner-drivers and hauliers

Tipper work means bulk loads for your own tipper: aggregates, sand, gravel, stone and seasonal agricultural loads. On GigFreight’s UK board, choose the “Tipper” vehicle type to see only loads that need a tipper. Load boards can be browsed without an account. Visitors see the route, dates, equipment and price of each load, but not the poster’s contact details.

What tipper work covers

Tipper work here means loads for a tipper you own or operate, taken on as a subcontractor or owner-driver. GigFreight does not list driving jobs with an employer.

  • Aggregates, sand, gravel and crushed stone between quarries, building sites and builders’ merchants.
  • Topsoil and landscaping materials.
  • Grain, fertiliser and animal feed in season, on bulk tipper trailers.
  • Bulk loads in Europe as well: UK accounts see European loads too.

Finding tipper work on the UK board

  1. Open the UK load board and choose “Tipper” as the vehicle type.
  2. Type the town you work from into “Origin city” to keep the search close to your yard.
  3. Set “Pickup Date” to the days your tipper is free.
  4. Under “Load type”, choose “FTL” for full loads, and use “Size & Weight” to keep loads within your payload.
  5. Compare loads by “Price”, then look for the next load from the tipping site or delivery area.

Tipper work near me

Searching from your own area is how you find tipper work near you: put your town into “Origin city” and narrow “Pickup Date” to the coming week. What appears depends on the loads that posters publish for that area and date.

If nothing fits today, list your tipper on the UK vehicle board with where and when it is free, so brokers and shippers looking for a tipper can find it.

Owner-driver tipper work and subcontracting

Hauliers may subcontract tipper work when their own fleet is busy, and freight brokers pass on bulk loads from shippers. On GigFreight you agree each job directly with the poster. No commission per load.

Before you accept a load, confirm the loading and tipping sites, their opening times, any weighbridge arrangements and how waiting time is paid.

Posting tipper loads

Posting loads is restricted to active paid subscribers and valid trials: the load is posted from a broker account — shippers and forwarders use the same account type — of a verified company, and is published in that account’s own markets.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a separate load board for tippers?

No. GigFreight has one UK board for every vehicle type; choosing “Tipper” as the vehicle type shows only the loads that need a tipper.

Are these tipper driver jobs?

No. The loads are subcontract work for operators with their own tipper. GigFreight is a freight exchange, not a recruitment site, and does not list employed driving jobs.

Can I see tipper loads without an account?

Load boards can be browsed without an account. Visitors see the route, dates, equipment and price of each load, but not the poster’s contact details.

Are contact details included in the trial?

Broker and shipper contact details on a load are shown only to members with a fully paid, active subscription. A trial gives access to the platform but not to load contact details.
