How to test a load board during a trial

Broker and shipper contact details on a load are shown only to members with a fully paid, active subscription. A trial gives access to the platform but not to load contact details.

  1. Search your own lanes and equipment every day of the trial, not just once.
  2. Note how many loads fit your truck and dates, and whether each shows the rate and rate per mile.
  3. Check what the trial includes: on some boards a trial shows contact details, on others it does not.
  4. Compare the monthly price with the extra revenue you would need to cover it.

After you book: paperwork and pay

A load board finds the load; the money is made in what follows. Prepare a carrier packet for new brokers, check every rate confirmation, agree accessorials before pickup and know your cost per mile.

What owner-operators should compare

  • Loads on your lanes and equipment — test during a trial.
  • Rate information: posted rates and rate per mile on each load.
  • Broker credit and payment information.
  • Mobile use and alerts.
  • Contract terms and cancellation.
