A load board for shippers

Shippers — manufacturers, distributors and anyone who owns the cargo — use a load board to reach carriers directly: you post the load with route, dates, equipment and rate, carriers who run that lane find it and register interest, and you choose one. On GigFreight shippers use the broker account type. Posting loads is restricted to active paid subscribers and valid trials: the load is posted from a broker account — shippers and forwarders use the same account type — of a verified company, and is published in that account’s own markets.

How it works for a shipper

  1. Register a broker account for your market — it is the account type for shippers, forwarders and brokers.
  2. Complete company verification.
  3. Post the load: pickup and delivery, dates, equipment, weight and your rate.
  4. The load appears on the public board for your markets, where carriers can see it without an account.
  5. Carriers register interest; you check them and confirm one.

What is free and what is paid

  • Free: Load boards can be browsed without an account. Visitors see the route, dates, equipment and price of each load, but not the poster’s contact details.
  • Paid: posting. Posting loads is restricted to active paid subscribers and valid trials: the load is posted from a broker account — shippers and forwarders use the same account type — of a verified company, and is published in that account’s own markets.
  • Plans start at €79 a month in Europe and $29.99 a month in the USA, each with a 3-day trial. No commission per load.

Before you hand over the freight

  • USA: look the carrier up on FMCSA’s SAFER system — the USDOT and MC numbers, operating status and insurance on file.
  • Europe: ask for the EU Community licence and check the company in its national register.
  • Confirm the phone number and email independently, not only from the posting — freight fraud often uses look-alike company names.
  • Put the rate, payment terms and documents (CMR consignment note in Europe, rate confirmation in the USA) in writing.

Markets

EU and UK accounts post into Europe and United Kingdom; Turkish accounts into Europe, United Kingdom and Turkey; US accounts into United States.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a separate account type for shippers?

No. Shippers, forwarders and brokers all use the broker account type.

Can I post a load for free?

No. Posting loads is restricted to active paid subscribers and valid trials: the load is posted from a broker account — shippers and forwarders use the same account type — of a verified company, and is published in that account’s own markets. Browsing the board is free.

Does GigFreight check carriers?

US companies upload their DOT and MC documents at registration and GigFreight reviews them manually before verifying the company. There is no automated authority check, so look the carrier up on FMCSA SAFER yourself before you book.
