Tolls, bans and documents
Italian driving bans
Trucks over 7.5 t may not drive in Italy on Sundays and public holidays, and on some summer Saturdays, according to an annual calendar.
Austria (Brenner)
Austria charges vehicles over 3.5 t a distance-based motorway toll collected by the GO-Box. Austria restricts trucks over 7.5 t at night (22:00–05:00) on most roads, with exemptions for certified low-noise vehicles.
Germany and Poland
Germany bans trucks over 7.5 t on Sundays and public holidays from 00:00 to 22:00, and on many motorways on Saturdays in July and August from 07:00 to 20:00. Poland charges vehicles over 3.5 t through the e-TOLL system on tolled motorways, expressways and some national roads.
Tips for carriers
- Plan the Brenner crossing around the Austrian night restrictions and the Italian weekend bans.
- Northern Italian industrial areas supply return freight to Poland — search before you unload.
