Tolls, bans and documents

Tolls

Most French motorways are tolled; some Spanish motorways are tolled too.

Driving bans

France bans trucks over 7.5 t from 22:00 on Saturday to 22:00 on Sunday and on public holidays; perishable goods can be exempt. Spain has its own holiday and summer restrictions.

Documents and rules

CMR consignment note and EU Community licence; refrigerated food loads need temperature records. Cabotage (domestic loads by a foreign EU carrier) is limited to three operations within seven days after an international delivery, followed by a four-day cooling-off period in that country.

Tips for carriers

  • Produce loads move to tight delivery windows — confirm temperature set point and unloading slot.
  • Search France for the return leg to Spain before you unload.
